Lily enjoyed listening to the students read to her again! She is very excited for her final visit on June 20 because she knows she will get to listen to the stories that our class wrote and published :)
Please remember to go onto Think Central! There are stories that you can read with your child or you can have the computer read it to them as they follow along. There are activities as well for both math and reading!
HOMEWORK INFO: 3rd/4th Grades: We have started our final unit which is on Geometry. We will also do plenty of review over the next few weeks in class and for homework.
Please continue to study your multiplication facts/skip counting as we still must remain strong with this skill.
1st/2nd Grade: At this point I am sure you have seen more stories are going home to read together and then answer questions. The more practice the better and they are doing fantastic so we want to keep up the momentum! Thank you for working so hard with your children! We are working on a lot of writing in class, in addition to the reading/spelling. We are working on retelling stories, sequencing, determining main idea/details and other story elements.
Spelling Info and More! Please see this handout to learn what my expectations are for spelling homework and the nightly Orton homework. I sent home new spelling choices on February 11.
Reading Strategies: Please review the handouts for a look at the reading strategies that I use with them. Please use these at home for reinforcement!
Be sure to practice the Orton sounds and red words each night! Remember, red words require your child to say the letter names and then the word after.
Please use the journey's links in the links bar for grammar practice. At this point you can use the games from lessons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 on the appropriate grade level for your child.

Daily Expectations for all of my classes: Students should come to class with the homework completed done to the best of their ability. Words and sentences should be as neat as possible and students should take PRIDE in their work. We are working on handwriting daily so I am looking for these skills to be applied as much as possible. Thank you!
